All the proceeds are donated to our local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13, “Operation Gift Cards” Program.
The All-Volunteer group has organized the delivery of over $1,500,000.00 in Post Exchange Service gift cards and corporate donations to our wounded troops at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Facility in Bethesda, MD.
The program has 75 organizations or individuals who have become co-sponsors by purchasing $1,000 of Post Exchange gift cards and in doing so, they have the opportunity to send one representative to hand deliver 100% of their donation to our wounded troops. Smaller donations of various amounts are also accumulated, Veterans from various local veteran groups visit our troops and hand out the gift cards.
The Hooks for Heroes CT decided to give its support to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13 Stamford based on:
• Local Veterans Organization
• 100% of all donations go directly to the Veterans at the Walter Reed Medical Facility.
• “Operation Gift Cards” is a unique program in which individual donors and sponsors have the honor of visiting and thanking our military men and woman warriors that have been seriously wounded, injured, or sickened, and handing them a thank you card with gift certificate.
Operation Gift Cards has received the following awards/special recognition: 6 national, 20 statewide, 4 military, and 4 regional/local awards. The majority of the awards were presented by 4 of the largest national veteran’s organizations.
